Job Seekers Allowance Question

Hi

I applied online for JSA but have been offered a job in the meantime. So Idid not attend the JSA interview which I was informed I would need to attend tocomplete my application as I no longer need it.

However this morning I have received an automated letter informing me thatthey have agreed that I am entitled to JSA.I am not sure that it's a letter just to imform me that I qualify for it or a letter to rubber stamp the JSA which I didnt think they could do without seeing me?

As I don't want my new employer knowing I have applied for JSA,will they paythe JSA into my account if I have not attended the meeting?

Thanks

N

    Hi

You need to contact JSA and notify them you wish to end your claim (if open) as you have secured employment.

They've probably just processed your claim but theoretically it will not be paid if you haven't attended your interview.

if you told them you want to cancel your claim, you could still be entitled to 1 or 2 days pay...

you have three waiting days... so...
if you apply on monday, and start work the following monday, you are still enttled to jsa betwen thursday-sunday...

    perhaps this is the case?

It'll be an automated letter based on your on-line application, however if you didn't attend the interview they would just close the claim, expect another letter or two. They are all automatically produced via the computer system, just file them.
