DPS - What Is A Repayment ID? When and Where Should I Find It?

I'm trying to claim repayment of deposit held on the Deposit Protection Service website. When I login using Deposit ID and surname I only have the ability to View the deposit, which still shows as Active. The Help info says I should see a link to a form to request back my deposit.

I can't find any link anywhere to claim it back. Should I be logging on with the Repayment ID instead of the surname? If so, where is the Repayment ID? When should I have received it? We only have the original letter from the DPS with the Deposit ID on but it has no mention of a Repayment ID.

Thanks in advance.

Also when I login to the DPS website I have no way to update any of the contact details, let alone request repayment. All I can do is view my deposit details and tenant/property details. It's like it's some kind of read-only version.

If they have your mobile number listed you can text ..
    REPAY DepositID DepositAmount
    .. to 07537404808

.. or phone DPS on 01173051600

.. PS you must be the lead tenant for this to work. If someone else is the lead tenant (which I suspect if your letter had no repayment ID) then the deposit return must be managed by the lead tenant - talk to them.

Thanks, will give it a try. I am the lead tenant but we have the same surname anyway as we're married. The letter from the DPS without a repayment id on is the only one we got.

Did you receive a copy of the prescibed information from the landlord?

That won't include the Repayment ID though, will it?
I was under the impression that the landlord and tenant each get a different Repayment ID.

    To the OP, this should help;

Thanks for the replies, particularly this one which got me my repayment ID texted to me and allowed me to be able to submit my claim. :money:

The letter that we got was actually addressed to my wife, so the one to me as lead tenant has gone AWOL at some point and probably had the repayment ID on it.

I don't think the DPS make this very clear on their website or their deposit letter, so to clarify for any future readers who find through Google, etc:

    - only the lead tenant can submit the deposit claim

    - only the lead tenant gets sent a repayment ID

    - only the lead tenant can amend contact details on the DPS website

    - to be logged into the DPS website as the lead tenant, use your repayment ID rather than your surname. Using surname is a view-only access.
