Who is my supplier??? New build.

I moved into a brand new house in December. Paperwork from the builder showing initial meter readings seems to suggest that scottish power is the supplier. However I have contacted them and they say they are not the supplier. I've tried the website which lets you check who your supplier is but they have no record of my address. Any ideas? I'm worried that the first bill will take months to come through and I will have been stuck on an expensive standard tarrif since moving in. Help!

I had a nightmare when I moved to my present address. Ring Scottish Power again and ask them to check if they supply any plots in your road.
It took our water supplier over 9 months to find us as- plot adjacent to number _ _0 -
Thanks for the useful reply, own my own.
I had already asked SP about plots and explained it is a new build. After seeing your reply I decided to try again and got somewhere. After ages on the phone the rep said, "oh there is another road showing up with your postcode...." I asked him to explain and it turns out my address is listed as plot 42 on a road outside the new estate. This road actually has a different postcode so it's definitely my new build house. The rep couldn't understand why it said plot 42 when I had said my house was number 40. Yep I had given both the house and plot numbers. Ah! Anyway I have my supply numbers now so I'm off to change supplier.
Atidi - why bother replying? Why would I have posted on this forum if I could just ask the builder today?! Really. The site is closed today and I'm trying to sort out all my bills today. Plus I already have info from the builder stating Scottish Power but it is SP saying they are not the supplier. I thought someone on here might just have some advice to offer.0 -

I've no idea if I'd have known you were just going to retort with such an attitude!
I see you thanked Own my Own for their advice, but the same criticism could be aimed at their suggestion; Scottish Power Customer Service close at 1pm on Saturday and don't reopen until Monday. So I don't believe you did call them.
Asking the builder was just one of a number of suggestions I gave you.
How do I know when your builder is available? The other suggestions I made you could follow 24/7/365
But I won't be making that mistake again.
Bye. Good luck!0 -
I called a number for new customers and they answered. Yes a department they wanted to transfer me to was closed but the man I spoke to managed to help in the end. So yes I did actually phone SP and now have the supply numbers. Please don't suggest that I am lying! Why would I even want to? Their website does say customer services for existing customers closes at 1 but I phoned a different line.
Anyway all sorted now.0 -
Littlesparkles if you e-mail details to onlinecomplaints@scottishpower.com we will look into this for you. The chances are that if the builder's change of responsibility form says we are the supplier then we probably are. If you have the supply numbers please quote them as this will help us to trace the records.
