Amazon marketplace return

Hi,

We're a very regular Amazon user, easily around 10 order per month as we buy all sorts from there. Very rarely return though.

I've purchased an ironing board cover. I spend a while researching as surprisingly many of them get terrible reviews and/or don't fit as they are supposed to. I therefore bought one which had decent reviews and which was the same brand as my ironing board.

On receiving the cover, it just doesn't work. There are 2 tabs at one end where you're obviously supposed to pull, in order to crinkle up the cover and tighten it around the ironing board.

We've tried everything but they won't pull, so nothing happens and the cover won't attach at all.

The return process has been painful so far. We requested a return explaining the issue, the seller advised us to pull the tabs to fit the cover.

We replied to say we had already tried but that this didn't work. Eventually the seller replied to say that we can now return, but if 'no fault is found' they will charge a restocking fee of £3. As the item only cost £6.95 this clearly isn't economical or very fair.

So, we obviously want to go ahead and return, but given the tone of the latest email, suspect that the seller will receive the item and then charge £3.

Just wondering where we stand with this?

Many thanks.

Open an A-Z claim with Amazon if the seller isn't playing ball. They're very good at sorting things from a buyers perspective.

Thank you, I didn't know there was a formal process for that on Amazon.

I will return the item and hope that I'm worrying for nothing, they will hopefully just refund me - it's not as though it's a high value item after all.
