Can I use my new bath straight away?

Had a new bathroom fitted today - Is it ok to use my new bath straight away? Would have asked my fitter but he didn't speak a word of English.

Ahhh bless, another one of our Eastern European friends hey? Polish no doubt. Actually some really good plumbers. Very hard working.

As long as the mastic is dry (where he's sealed the bath to the tiles along the long edge at the wall) then there is no reason why you shouldn't be able to use it.

... he did mastic it in i hope? ;)

I hope he did it the mastic with the bath 3/4 full of water as well or it will come away when you get in it.

Personally I would wait 24 hours for the sealant to fully cure, it may look "dry" but it will only be "skinned over".

I got stopped in B&Q a couple of guys by 2 guys speaking broken english asking me if i needed a builder. When i said no, they still went on about how hard working they were. I didnt doubt they were hard working but a) i didnt need a builder and b) they wouldnt take no for an answer. I was looking at ceiling lights at the time so i dont know why they got that idea. I had to walk off to get shot of them and only came back when i had got MrJudi by my side. It shook me up i can tell you!

  • They were Polish actually...and a very nice job they've done too.

It's just that I've had two bathrooms fitted in the past, one fitter said it was OK to use the bath right away, and the other said to wait a day or two.

    Very confusing.
