Anyone with Welcome Car Finance?

Hi, have been reading through the threads on WCF and apart from the bickering going on between members there seems to be no really useful information for those of us who are unfortunate to have a car with WCF, as they have had no choice but to do so. I hope somebody out there can help with my problems with WCF, which is as follows:
I purchased a car from Welcome Finance in January 2004 with monthly repayments of £287.00. Back in January I decided to VT the car, there were ongoing disputes between Welcome and myself over this option. I went to Trading Standards to seek their help and they advised me that I would have to pay back all the outstanding amount left on the agreement, which is about £6000. The account was then passed over to their Collections Department. I was contacted by them and they discussed the option of starting a new agreement at a lower monthly payment (which was what I was after in the first place). It may seem crazy refinancing but I need the car for my job, so this is my best option (I think). They asked me to pay one instalment at the new rate of £165, which I did at the end of February, I haven’t paid any instalments since. I was then told they would draw up new papers for the agreement, since then I have had no contact from the either by phone or post. What should I do? Technically the old agreement is defunct now and I haven’t signed a new one. Where do I stand legally?
It is a bit long and dragged out but would really appreciate some helpful information on this.0 -
I would seriously bypass Welcome Finance if I were you. No matter whether you have the money or not.
Im sure you could get a car from somewhere else for less hassle.
The cars from Welcome are known for constant breakdowns too (even with their hundred and something point check from the AA). Read the small print and I wouldnt take the part exchange price or deposit price they quote seriously either.

go back to trading standards and see what they say. We are currently in the process of it with Welcome for various reasons. A £4000 charge has been put on our account for reasons unknown and also they are reluctant to give any statements to us or Trading standards. From what I hear Trading standards from around the country are investigating Welcome. Whether that is true or not I dont know, but it has to be worth a try.
I hope you sort it out with them.0 -
I wish people would heed the advice about Welcome Car Finance.
Just reading this post alone you can see people hurling themselves, eyes wide open, into ridiculous and serious debt.
Good luck in your quest against them mollymoo:)0 -

Hi hun, Please a million times please. DO NOT GO TO WELCOME. I wish i had the knowledge 3 years ago i have now, They are sooooooooooooo bad news chick. I am about to take the court for various things. Go and have a look at https://www.consumeractiongroup.com. They ave a whole thread called any dealings with welcome. Its horrendous. I cant go into detail on here about my case but trust me i have had 3 yrs of hell with them. And if you think you will get a nice car for 200 a month from them think again. Its up to you hun what you do. And all i can say is if you do get a car from them and it all turns out ok then can i be your manager. you will be one of the very few and i mean few that it will turn out ok. If you can get them to be fair then you can turn water into wine. Sorry if this is not the answer you are looking for. But we will be here for help and support whenever you need it. xxxxxxxxxxxxNight Owl Member No 1 :rotfl: :rotfl:

Well James, suffice to say you have been given lots of advice here. You must do what you think is right for your circumstances. I and all of us am sure wish you all the best in your quest for a car. Am so sorry that you could not get a definitive answer to your post. And when it comes to welcome its one of those things where a lot folk will have to agree to disagree. Good luck. xxxxxxxxxNight Owl Member No 1 :rotfl: :rotfl:
