Temp folder: how do I set it to clear regularly?

I am running Windows XP.

In order to clear hardrive space, every few weeks I go to my temp folder (Documents and Setting > Me > Local Settings > Temp) and manually delete all contents. This never seems to do any damage, but always clears a lot of space.

It is a tedious task which I often forget. There must be a way to set it to happen automatically every day, week, or whatever.

Or try Eraser - you can set it to delete all sorts of categories of 'temporary' files, to the schedule that you want. Free download at

I found this sometime ago and applied it to my computer. Presumably it does what it says but I'm not an expert.

Go to Control Panel > Internet Options. Click on the ADVANCED tab. Scroll down to Security. Make sure you tick "Empty Temporary Internet Files Folder when browser is closed". Click Apply.
