100% polypropylene carpet ???

Options
Has anybody here had any experience with 100% polypropylene carpets (this one is by Kossett) It's not cheap... £20 per sqm so pretty much the same as an 80% wool mix but I have been told these new carpets repel ALL stains....even bleach so am feeling very tempted. Spending a lot of money so would appreciate any feedback here....thanks !
just a bit concerned they may go a bit 'flat' Like the old synthetic carpets....salesman says no but not quite so sure ????

  • We have one. I decided on man made because we had a moth problem at the time. They do repel all stains very successfully but they most certainly do flatten.......at least ours did. Ours was only about £12 per square metre so perhaps the dearer one won't flatten as much.
  • Don't listen to the salesman he will only tell you what he thinks you need to hear. Polypropylene is one of the least 'resilient' carpet fibres, meaning........... it WILL flatten, much more so than wool.

Yes they will repel most stains because Polypropylene is a 'solution dyed' fibre, meaning that the fibres are dyed and set whilst still at the solution stage before it is turned into yarn to make into carpet

Polypropylene is an oil based material which means that it will attract oil based stains but repel others.
  • Thanks....I think I'm already going back to what I know ie the 80% wool blend as don't want to have to replace them all in 5 years time !!
