Sounds like the E7 night rate meter is not wired up at all, it probably should have been changed for a single rate meter when the central heating was installed. *Some* suppliers will add together the two readings to put you on a single rate tariff but others will insist you have the meter changed which costs.
You can ask BG and EON to bill you differently but I doubt you have any 'come back' - they were right to put you on a two rate tariff with a two rate meter, with the benefit of hindsight you should have read the meters more often.

I received a letter from meterplus advising that they wanted to change the meter.
So after speaking to EDF ( this is now the 3rd time though) they have agreed to change the meter with a standard one.
