DLA Change of Circ query?

Hi! Sorry to bother you all, but I've got a quick question and I'd like a bit of clarity.

I recently put in a change of circumstances for my DLA. I have ME and had received low rate care and mobility. I was diagnosed with Fibromyalgia so put in the change of circumstances and was awarded high rate mobility (have also been awarded my Blue Badge). I am very grateful for that as it will help me so much, but they have only back dated my updated mobility to 1st Dec, even though I put claim in October.

They have said that because my circumstances changed in August, I have to satisfy three months before the claim can kick in. Can I just check with anyone in the know here if that's right? Just wanted to be sure :)

Kind regards,

Ladybird

Does sound about right. Just like if you were claiming DLA for the first time, you have to have had the condition for 3 months before you can claim and it's expected to last for 6 months. So guess that's where the 3 months is coming from

It's correct, there is a 3 month qualifying period before you can be paid. Also the reason for payment / increase in payment has to be expected to last for a minimum of a further 6 months.
  • Thank you all, really appreciate the time you have taken to reply :)
