Royal navy want redundancy money back

Hi,
I was hoping someone could give me some advice or point me in the right direction.
my sister got made redundant from the royal navy last year. She left in September and since then has been working in a factory since then. She made an application to the MPGS and has been successful.
She has since been told that she needs to give back her redundancy money.
Now she can't find anything in her paperwork about paying money back and nor can any of her ex collegues who she has asked.
So does anyone know what the policy/procedure is for the MOD asking for redundancy money back?

I can't see how this is valid. She was made redundant and managed to get re-employed. Where does the navy have an issue? Has she spoken to the Navy Association yet?

Did she get a letter? Surely the RN will have given a reason for this request.Who having known the diamond will concern himself with glass?

I think they want it back as she is now joint the mpgs. Maybe something about joining another mod section within a certain time frame from being made redundant. Neither her of ex collegues can find info in any redundancy paperwork they were given. So she is obviously distraught at having to pay it back0

She's rejoining the military (the MPGS are part of the Army) so has to repay some or all of the redundancy.
Can she turn the job offer down or has she already started?

Not really. She has handed in the notice from her factory job.it was only contract work and they have since found her replacement. So she will need the mpgs job or be jobless0

This is quite common in redundancies - that you can't go back and work for an organisation/connected company and keep redundancy.0

It has always been part of the redundancy rules and was when I took redundancy in 1994. See page 17 of

Recovery of the redundancy compensation was covered in the Defence Information Note (DIN) issued by the Navy - this is a version online: http://www.google.co.uk/url?sa=t&source=web&cd=7&ved=0CE8QFjAG&url=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.royalnavy.mod.uk%2F~%2Fmedia%2FFiles%2FNavy-PDFs%2FCommunity%2FMembers-Area%2FNaval%2520Service%2520Redundancy%2F20120118-Tranche_2_Redundancy_Information.pdf&ei=gWX0UIXFIcm3hQePuYDgCw&usg=AFQjCNEtWMxv9L9roGhdK64Q-uaXQXpdPQ pages 30 and 32Mortgage Free thanks to ill-health retirement0

In certain circumstances, personnel made redundant who are subsequently employed within the Ministry of Defence or other Government departments will be required to repay the SCP/CLS either in full or in part. An abatement or cessation of pension may also be required in addition to repayment of gratuity. Personnel considering applying for such appointments are advised to obtain details of the effect on their financial award from the SPVA Joint Personnel Administration Centre.
This was declared upon redundancy, or in short, sorry but it was in the small print.0 -
Most offers of Voluntary or involuntary redundancy have in the T and C's that you cannot be re employed by the same company within a 12 month period, if you do so you have to pay any redundancy monies back - in essence most redundancy figures are worked out of a maximum 2 years loss of earnings - so in essence they pay you for not working. It may sound cruel but it is fair.0
