Moving house need advice please.
At the moment I am with EDF direct debit blue fixed tariff.
New house has prepayment meters for gas and electric from BG.
Do I go with BG ask them to change the meters and then change to EDF
or
tell EDF before I move that I want them to supply the new house and ask them to change the meters.
Confused about this, just want a bit of guidance please.

The correct procedure is that on the day you move in, you contact BG to report your occupation and give them the meter readings - The reason for this is, is that as the new occupier of this dwelling you automatically become a customer of the dwellings present supplier
Despite these rules, other suppliers if asked will take you on as a customer on the day you move in, but it always ends in tears becuase you end up with two suppliers sending you bills for the same energy.
BG will treat you as a 'new' account and as such put you on an expensive Standard Tariff, but soon as you get their welcome pack you are free to Switch to a different BG tariff or any other supplier you like, some of whom will swap those PAY as you GO meters for Credit meters free of charge0 -
Thank you dogshome for a clear explanation.
I hate it when I am not sure what to do, so thanks for sorting me out.0
