Email help please

Options
Hi everyone, I hope someone can help me.

I have around 300 emails that I have to send in date order to the financial ombudsman service. Without printing them all off how will I do this? Please make it an easy task for me as I'm already pulling my hair out.

Thanks in advance

Steph xx

You should be able to right-click them (all together using Shift key) if they are grouped together and 'Save As' *.eml files. Save them into a new folder, zip the folder then attach the folder to an email to FOS.

If you're using Windows (Live) Mail as your email client the messages should already be stored in .eml format:
    %LocalAppData%\Microsoft\Windows Live Mail
    %LocalAppData%\Microsoft\Windows Mail

If you have MS Outlook you could save them as one .pst file.

Try saving just 30 at a time -300 may be too much.
  • It's difficult to help you without knowing what e-mail program you are using. How does the financial ombudsman need the e-mails? Electronic file? Printed?

All depends which mail client you are using also where are the emails, already in your inbox? If already in your inbox and you are using outlook for example, you can simply select all of them and click forward, this will send one email with every email you have selected as an attachment (the attachment simply being another email if you get me)

That said, it is unlikely that either your email host will allow to send 300 attachments on an email (due to the maximum attachment size you are allowed) or that the FOS will be able to receive such an email.

Saving them all as a .pst file for example could be confusing for the FOS as many will not know what to do with this.

All the above may be academic anyway as however you do it, it is unlikely to put them in date order. If it is one .pst file that they load into outlook they will not necessarily appear to them in date order, also if you send as attachments they again will maybe not appear in date order. Seems like a bit of an unreasonable request from the FOS to be honest (if it is at their request) as it's not really very practical.

    So we need more info:

    1. How do the FOS want to receive the emails? ie. do they want them in email format or will they accept fax/scanned etc.

    2. Which email client are you using ie. windows live mail, outlook, yahoo etc.
