Finding Bank accounts

I wonder if any of you can help me, my granddad passed away recently and left a will of who gets what etc but finding the money is proving difficult.
I know that there were accounts set up for me and my sister when we were born(im now 34) and we cannot find these, not to mention our childrens accounts. Also he had loads of accounts himself and cannot find those, does anyone know the best way to go about it?
after that we will try and track down the shares etc
Thanks
