British Gas Pre Payment Charges

I have just received a letter from a debt collection company saying that I owe £125 for an address that I lived in 3 years ago. I rang them up and explained that we had a pre payment meter in and they said that British Gas had been charging me the wrong tariff and now want this money back.
I find this VERY strange and have never heard of this before.

Has anyone else ever had this problem before ?

Speak to someone at British Gas so you can find out any information in detail. They'll be able to say exactly what's going on as opposed to what a debt collection agency might know.

If I owe money I will pay,,,,but its more the fact that I was on a key meter and had no idea`s of any sort of tariffs on these,,,,they said it was in terms & conditions, but where are the terms & conditions,,,,,I received a key in an envelope and nothing else, just instructions an what to do with it.(go to shop and top it up)
Surely taking 3 years to tell me this is very STRANGE in my opinion, but what would I know...lol
