Do I need anti-virus for my Kindle Paperwhite?

I've done a search of the internet but can't find a definitive answer - and as a non-techie, I don't understand half the discussions about this that I've found.

No, because the device is effectively a walled garden, its locked to Amazon.

Thanks for that. Though I've only used it for books so far, I can access the internet, to browse or e-mail, and it is synched to my new desktop computer, so if I do those things, will I still be OK please?

Yes... unless you do this to it, and even then you're far more likely to break it yourself before any nefarious types get their grubby mitts on its code-bearing innards.

You wouldn't want to use the Kindle browser for anything other than emergencies. 'Clunky' would be a polite description.

LOL - I won't feel that I'm missing out by not using it for the internet then. It was a Christmas present, and I didn't even realise at first that I could do other things on it, as well as just read books, so then it was a panic in case I was leaving myself open to infecting my 'proper' computer via the Kindle, or something dire like that.
