My friend has just bought a new Dell laptop but it won't play DVDs. It says that the region code dose not match that of the DVD but they are original region 2 dvds so they do match.
Anyone else had this problem?
Thanks
Sarah

Has he set the DVD region for the drive?

You can only do this 5 times per drive (its firmware embedded)Throwing acid is bad.... in some peoples eyes...0 -
Get a copy of AnyDVD and install onto the laptop. This will let you play any region DVD's.0

If you can find the version of the drive itself, there is usually a firmware 'upgrade' that can remove such limitations.
Otherwise, there http://www.dvd43.com/ which is like a free version of AnyDVD: http://www.slysoft.com/en/anydvd.html
HTHIt could have been worse. At least source code's not combustible, or you can bet somebody at McAfee would have lit it.0 -
Hi, region code is already set to 2.
Thanks for the software tips, thought it might have to be sent back to Dell!0
