    Hi Nova,

In all honesty you will need some electrical skills to be able to find this out as there's a host of reasons or faults that could cause that. Just for starters, faulty interference filter, faulty motor, faulty heater, faulty wiring... the list goes on but it is liable to be a faulty component somewhere.

    Hope that helps.

I had a problem with my Hotpoint washing machine the other day and was wondering who I could get to fix it without getting ripped off. It turns out that Hotpoint themselves will fix it for just £90 if the machine is less than five years old. There's no charge for parts.
So, if you need it repaired and it's less than five years old, give Hotpoint a ring on 08709 066 066. At least you know the cost in advance.

The average repair cost using an independent is £64, including parts. ;)

That maybe so. However, I'm very wary of independent people having watched many editions of Rogue Traders. At least if you use the manufacturers service you know you will not be ripped off.

Try repairs@, we vet and monitor the repairers and they are governed internally should there ever be any dispute. All the repairers on there must operate to our code of practice.

We don't charge for the service to either the repairer or the customer as I was only too aware of these scaremongering TV programs and the likes. You never see any press or TV on the people that do the job properly. ;)

You'll also be pleased to know that the vast bulk of repairers on there do hold one or more manufacturer or insurance agency and all operate to a decent standard.
