It makes such a minor difference that it doesn't really matter. All the figures are the same no matter who supplies your gas.I have been trying to obtain a correct calorific valuefigure for the gas supplied to my property ,i have received three figures, frommy present supplier figures of 39.5 & 40.0 and from a supplier i am transferring mysupply to , of 39.3

I'd advise you to read the national grid's description of the calorific value, explaining what it is, why its variable and how it's measured.

And if you want a list of current and historical values

On a similar subject, is there a link anywhere that will give the average CV over a certain period as used in bills. I know I can get the daily figures from the NG site but I would rather take the easy way out than calculate the average myself. (being a bit anal as my spreadsheet does not quite get my bill correct

Don't think so, though I wonder if you could ask NG for an excel file of historical values so you could work it out?Ex BG complaints veteran of 6 years!0
