We have just finished decorating our hall, stairs and landing in Graham and Brown Wall Doctor woodchip-cover wallpaper. It's fantastic! It is very thick and totally covers the woodchip bumps but it is also easy to hang.
I used Solvite Extra Strong wallpaper paste which was ideal. Put plenty on and leave each piece at least 5 minutes before hanging. We chose the pattern called 'Bark' which is very easy on the eye. Shortly after hanging the paper we gave it 2 coats Crown Brilliant White emulsion and it looks FAB!
You can buy it at Homebase for £9.99 per roll, at B&Q for £8.99 per roll. We bought ours online from Sutton Trade Paints, Nottingham for about £7.50 per roll, with free (very speedy) delivery.

Polystyrene ceiling tiles date back a lot further than the 80's. I remember using them in the 60's. Now, I cannot think for the life of me, why we ever thought that they were a good thing. Ugh!

Bleurghh, I had those in the bathroom when first moved in this house. The oddest thing was that they'd not quite gone on straight and even though the room was more or less completely square, the tiles went skewiff. Ended up pulling them all down when had a roof leak and went over with polycell smoothover, but left it with a roughened finish. It looks okay now, but a nightmare to do.
