How do you split the bill?

Varies - if we've all had about the same then I think we should all pay the same. It does annoy me when people get the calculators out to work out to the exact penny when it's roughly the same per person!
Although, having said that, if one person has had a bottle of wine and a dessert, whilst another has had one course and a soft drink then I wouldn't expect the bill to be split equally.0 -

Why does it annoy you if people want to pay for what they've had & no more?0 -

Suckers!!!
Which confirms my view that the people who eat out at the expense of others know EXACTLY what they are doing. They are manipulators and controllers who think it's funny to trample on the feelings of others and take their money.
In any other situation, it would be called what it is: exploitation by intimidation!
I can't think of any other place where people could say "I'm going to buy something, but don't feel like paying for all of it. So when the bill is presented, I want you to pay some of it for me".
But in a restaurant, at a supposedly 'happy' social situation, people hold back from objecting to the injustice, for fear of putting a dampener on things. And the !!!!!!!!!!s know this, and exploit it shamelessly.
All the grumbling that these creeps do about 'spoiling the occasion' when someone wants to add up, and pay for, only what they ate, is simply one more intimidatory tactic in their arsenal.
Let's face it: it's always the !!!!!!!!!! who sings out "Let's split the bill!" Knowing that they will come off best.0 -

Quite a low opinion you have of your friends. Would hate to hear what you think of you enemies!Apparently I'm 10 years old on MSE. Happy birthday to me...etc0 -
The last time I went on a work colleague's do when someone was leaving I wanted to go but it was at an Indian restaurant and I don't like anything off the menu. There was about 30 of us.
So, I shared poppadoms and mango chutney and had a prawn cocktail instead of a curry. They then split the bill and it cost me £10! I ended up paying a share for starters, curries and wine even though I don't drink!0 -
The question is "When you are out with friends" - not work colleagues, not random strangers.
If they are friends then they will know if you are vegetarian or abstemious and they will know if you are brassic.0
