Hi, I am building my own pc at the moment and have the following arriving this week.
1 x Intel P4 CPU 3.2ghz (SL6WG)
2 x Samsung 512 MB DDR 400
1 x Asus P4P800-MX Skt478 865GV chipset 800FSB
1 x NEC ND-3520 16x16 Dual Layer Black DVD +/- R/RW
1 x 16 x DVD rom
1 x Asus TA210 Black midi tower 360W ATX
1 x 200 GB Maxtor DiamondMax
This pc will be used mainly for surfing the net, ebay, storing mp3's and digital photo editing (nothing heavy)
Can someone recommend what video / sound options I should also purchase.
Thanks

Sound - Audigy1 standalone PCI card.
Graphics - ?
Do you have a budget? Will you be playing any games at all? Does it just need to turn your monitor on or does it need perfomance too?
ATi 9600XT/Ultimate (Sapphire) are good cards for £100.0 -
you can get much better cards than a 9600xt for £100, aria have 9800pros for £100 at the moment, and you can get a GF6600gt for about £110.
and you might not need an extra soundcard unless you're desperate for the best quality or crave lots of inputs.
and make sure the P4 you've bought is socket 478, not lga775, or it wont fit.0 -
SL6WG is socket 478 so you'll be fine.
Surfing the net, mp3s and phots need about a 1.5GHz processor at most, imo 3.2GHz and 200GB hard drive is a bit excessive, but I suppose thats how market forces work.
As for sound, you could get an OEM Audigy 2 if you are really particular about it, but otherwise just use the onboard sound.0 -
Thanks for the comments. There are 2 sony network walkmans and an i pod to cater for in my house so hence the 200gb. Got the cpu for £80 so can't complain.
