Dishwasher Aquastop box - Ok to fit upwards?

I've got a new dishwasher (Siemens) on the way tomorrow and I know for a fact it will have one of those Aquastop boxes on the cold water inlet hose. So what I want to know is whether you can (safely) have the Aquastop box pointing upwards rather than downwards or at 90 degrees? Checking online, the vague installation guide only shows it pointing downwards.
My washing machine has one fitted at 90 degrees, and its manual shows it either downwards or horizontal. However without some sort of radical re-plumbing or the use of a costly extension, the dishwasher will have to be upwards.
Can an expert advise?

We have an aquastop on our Bosch dishwasher (owned by the same group as Siemens), ours is pointing downwards.
Maybe phone Siemens for advice.0 -
Well to my surprise it turned up without one, just an ordinary hose. I double checked with Siemens and the model I've bought has internal anti-flood/leak rather than an Aquastop. So now I just have to clean up the mess left by the old leaky Hotpoint!0

You won't be disappointed with a Siemens. They get really good ratings on Which? for everything - reliability, performance, energy efficiency, build quality etc.0

Well I've had one of their washing machines for a couple of years and apart from the odd quirk and a bit of paint coming off around the door rim I've been very happy with it.
I got a good deal on the dishwasher, plus it has a 5 year warranty and a £75 Siemens cashback offer.
I've had to replace the oven and dishwasher in the last 3 months and gone for Siemens both times, so I'm majorly putting my trust in them!0
