Hi folks,

I have just installed a 128gb Scandisk ssd and would appreciate it if you could check my readings -

The disk is Sata 3 but my motherboard is sata2 it is a gigabyte ep43-ds3r - E7300 core 2 duo and 4 gig of ram.

Trim is enabled and Ahci is set in the bios

Using the AS benchmarking tool - which I cannot post an image of? - sorry

...............Read .....Write
Seq ........242....... 214 MB/s
4K .........10.98..... 9.27 MB/s
4k - 64 ...25.11..... 6.30 MB/s
Acc time... 0.28...... 0.46 ms

Score 132

I have looked at other Sata2 drive benchmarks with similiar processors and they seem to have at least double my score -- any opinions -

Thanks for looking.

It seems to be bit slow , but with a SATA2 motherboard you won't get the full speed anyway!

Have a look at the forums at overclock.net where they discuss this sort of thing endlessly!!

AS is ok for hdds and ssd's but it do's show lower speeds on ssds ,most ssd company's recommend ATTO to bench them with

    try it with atto http://www.techpowerup.com/downloads/1749/ATTO%20Disk%20Benchmark%20v2.46.html
and do not bench the ssd every five minutes ,or it will slow down a lot,you need to give it time to recover
some thing to compare with ,my own ssd

there or their, one day i might us the right one ,until then tuff

    Thanks for your replies -

    Toxteth..

Thats the kind of results I am seeing elsewhere - my seq read/writes and access times are great - but my 4k and 4k-64 are pants.

What are the figures in green on the high left - 1024K ??

    I have
    ..........msachi - ok
    ..........103424 K - ok
    ......... 119.24GB

msachi I pressume is the driver/controller and 119.24GB is my SSD size but the other figure I dont know.

It's the partition alignments on the disk. If it is in green it's OK. If it's out of alignment (degraded performance) the figure will be in red and say BAD after it.

The start of your OS partition is higher than mine probably because you have a Win 7 System Reserved 100MB partition starting at 1024k on your disk.

  • Try running SSDTweaker to see if you get a performance improvement.
