P1614 Wrong Security Code received Immobiliser C-06

hi, help......
the ignition barrel in my lads 02 corsa broke the other day (pin that slots into the ignition switch had sheared off,yet another common corsa problem:(,so i got another from a local scrapyard, eventually managed to get them swapped over but now have two keys, one for the doors and one to start the engine, read on the interweb that as long as the original key is close enough to the ignition it will fire up ok,but it seems the immobiliser tried to read the code from the transponder in the new key(i should have taken it out,but i didnt think)so now i have this fault code, gotton by using the pedal method, P1614,which translates to, Wrong Security Code received Immobiliser C-06 d,now i was wandering if any of you goodly people would know if one of those handheld fault readers would be able to clear that error code or would it be a tow to a local garage £££££s or worse even, many thanks

Ignore the code it should clear itself after a while.

Swap the chip over or program the key to the car. Is the pickup coil intact?

It should clear after 25 start ups with no fault.
    Be happy...;)
  • yes everything is intact, but the engine wont start and after spending all day looking into it,it seems this fault wont clear by its self,
    thanks mark

For vauxhall cars, normally disconnecting the battery for about 30 mins will do
