Ah I just think he has a boring few days ahead of him at home! No school, no friends, even his sister will be at school!!
Today I got all the baby clothes down from the loft- we didnt have much left as Ive given the majority away but I had quite a few babygrows. Ive started cutting them up to make a patchwork quilt.
I made 7 portions of butternut squash soup for lunches for the week and a big "granny" fruit cake for lunchboxes. I also made a big risotto for dinner which will do us all another meal too, maybe Tuesday evening.Mortgage Free WannaBe!

Tomorrow is the girl child's birthday- husband is just putting together her dressing table so she can see it when she wakes up!
The husbands money reached the joint account today so I went to LIDL and stocked up on fruit, ham, cheese and milk to last us the week. Cost me £18.
Im really very excited as on sat night when I was watching tv, I applied to go on the audience of ant and dec. They rang me today to say they were thinking of putting me in the audience but did I have any funny stories to tell or party tricks to share??!! It was very hard to think of things like that off the top of my head!! They said they will let me know if I have got tickets during the week so fingers crossed, I would love to go and see it!Mortgage Free WannaBe!

Feeling a bit sad today as no phone call from Ant and Dec!! They did say if I hadn't heard by wed/thurs then to assume that I hadn't got a ticket
Today was my day off work but spent the whole day at home with the boy child, who is still off school, and 2 of his friends who also have chickenpox. At least they were happy and I spent the day sorting out paperwork for our solicitors. I am very frustrated as I cant find our electrical work certificate and the certificate for the boiler, I think I might have to pay someone to come and reissue another one. I have looked everywhere!!
I did pop into town whilst the husband looked after the kids and just bought some milk. I really need to do a big shop but I have realised that I have gone over budget for this month for my groceries so am trying to use up what is in the cupboards and freezer. I have my £5 aldi voucher which expires on sat so maybe I will shop on sat morning.Mortgage Free WannaBe!

Yesterday was payday so I did some money transfers and paid a big chunk off the credit card. The husband has transferred me his car allowance this month which is currently in bank limbo but hopefully should arrive soon, then I can pay another big wodge off. Fingers crossed, the credit card should actually be paid off in the next week or two, hooray! Just the rest of the month to get through!!
Today we had another NSD, the girl child went to a craft session at the local church (I stayed at home with the boy- still spotty but most have scabbed over now), then this afternoon we took the kids out geocaching. Boy is going crazy at home so we decided to take him somewhere where we wouldnt really see many other people, we took them into the woods and spent about 3 hours hunting for treasure!! A great free afternoon.
Tomorrow morning I am going out to do my big shop, it is the last day I can use my £5 off coupon at ALDI so I am going to stock up there. Ive written a shopping list and it is as long as your arm!
Im trying to plan ahead for big expenses in April. Ive got 1 wedding so will need to buy them a present. I've also arranged to go to a farm park next week one day, will cost around £25. And the rest of the Easter hols to get through. Ive got £90 spending money for April so I really need to make this stretch. This £90 is just for "fun" and presents/clothes etc.Mortgage Free WannaBe!

There was a free craft day at my local church hall too, but my girl child wouldn't go and instead wanted to go clothes shopping -£50 later! Glad she's not any older and it still buys plenty.
Queues were mad in the supermarkets today so good luck going tomorrow, hope it's quieter. Hubby once found them giving stuff away at Lidl one Easter saturday late on as shop was closed following day, he couldn't think what to get though so only brought back 1 pack of sausages.:doh:0 -
I have spent sooo much money in ALDI today! Total spent = £131 and that was after I had used the money off voucher. £131 is a lot of food in ALDI!! That should keep us going a while but I still might need to top up on fruit and milk next weekend. My trolley was literally overflowing but I did buy lots of cleaning stuff too, and stuff like clingfilm etc and I shouldnt need to buy anything else now for a good couple of weeks.
I am very happy that Ive just had en email saying that the girl child can join Brownies after Easter! She will be so pleased, she has wanted to join for a while. It will cost £32 per term which isn't too bad. I've now got to buy the uniform though, I bet that will set me back a bit. I went to Brownies when I was a little girl and I really enjoyed it so I hope she does too. I have some very fond memories of Brownies.Mortgage Free WannaBe!

£131 in aldi? What did you buy? One of everything?:D We spent £103 in asda and I thought that was enough, but we've been without a kitchen for past 2 weeks whilst new one installed and needed to stock back up.
It's my girl child's 10th birthday tomorrow- well today actually since it's after midnight. An Easter birthday has had plenty of frustrations and I can sympathise with those who have Christmas Day children and any problems that come with it. At least Easter changes it's date every year. You should look if/when your daughter's birthday every falls Easter Sunday and plan well in advance and don't have any building work going on around the same time.:rotfl:
I'd hang fire on the Brownie uniform at min. The pack may have second hand uniform they sell on (the one my DD went to did) or she may not like it after a few sessions, though I hope she does. My son did plenty of cubs/scouts and was fantastic for him in many ways.0 -
Hope your girl child had a good birthday Spendless. I have seen some second hand uniforms on ebay already for around £5 for the whole shebang, but I will still hold fire and give her a couple of weeks to try Brownies to see if she likes it before I commit!
Not a great day for me today, I had the girl up lots in the night suffering from what was obviously a urine infection, I took her to the out of hours dr who prescribed antibiotics, then we had to go to the ONE chemist that was open on Easter sunday, which turned out it didnt open until 10am, so me and the girl child shared a cooked brekkie in a greasy spoons cafe (£5) until we could finally get to the chemist to get her antibiotics. I dread to think what my gas bill will be like as it has been so painful for her to wee that Ive ended up running a bath for her every time she needs to go so it's not so painful. Anyway, we did manage to enjoy the rest of the day and even saw my sister and neices who indulged the children with copious amounts of chocolate.
Ive downloaded a book on kindle for free (saw it on HDUK) its called something like How to get loads of things for free, I am going to start reading it in a second, I might go up to bed early and snuggle up under my duvet. The husband made us a bread and butter hot cross bun pudding so I might just need to polish some of that off first.Mortgage Free WannaBe!

We had arranged for some friends to come over for lunch this afternoon but they rang at the last minute and said their kid was ill so they couldn't come. So after that, we pretty much just spent the day at home, the kids were happy playing and the neighbouring kids came round to play with them, the husband and I spent the whole day searching for the electrical certificate for the house which we need to send to the solicitors- we cant find it anywhere!! It is so frustrating as I remember having it but I just dont know where we put it.
Ive counted up how much I spent on groceries in march- the march total comes to £297.72 which is slightly over budget as I was aiming to spend £250. That dosn't even include the £131 I spent in ALDI as Ive taken that out of April's budget. I really need to spend less on groceries, I am aiming to spend less than £250 for April. We have plenty of food in now so I will not be going shopping until we are desperate.Mortgage Free WannaBe!

Good things and bad things have happened today (financially). I paid off the rest of the balance off my credit card from the reservation fee for the new house. Im really chuffed I cleared 2k in 2 weeks!! So I wont be charged any interest on it, but pretty much all our accounts are now empty. Ive got £105 left in the joint account and nothing in my personal account until 30th April. HOWEVER, I can always use my credit card again and pay off in full but I will aim not to use it.
Bad - had to go and get new tyres for the husbands car, went to Costco, cost £200!!
Other than that we had a nice day in the sunshine, took the kids to the park this morning (free), mooch around Costco this afternoon, then the kids and I built a massive bonfire in the garden and lit it when we got back. Kept them entertained for ages but I now stink of bonfire smoke!Mortgage Free WannaBe!
