If they don''t get your levels up, ask to be referred to the haematology day unit at you local hospital. They can give you an IV infusion of iron. It doesn't hurt at all though you have to sit there most of the day on a drip. I've had this done many times as I have coeliacs disease and also have trouble absorbing iron orally. One IV infusion usually keeps my levels good for whole year.
Good luck,

p.s. the liquid iron supplement you can buy is called Floradix or Floravital It tastes lovely! You can also buy Spatone which is an iron rich water in sachets. they sell this in Tesco/Boots etc but the Floravital you would need to look in ahealth food store or somewhere like Holland & barratt? These are ok for daily use if you are a bit low, but not enough if you are really anemic. x
thanks for that. I haven't a clue what's what with it as I haven't seen a doctor again yet. Just a phonecall from receptionist to say I had a prescription for tablets due to anaemia showing on a routine blood check. it's on my records that I cant take the tablets:mad: So she called back when she'd spoken to the doctor and told me to come in every morning for the jabs. Im seeing the doctor on Monday again, so hopefully it will get sorted then.0 -

I still have not worked out which is the most exciting, the race for the first page, or the race for the (second) last post!“Quis custodiet ipsos custodes?”
