Can I ask what sort of dogs they are? Also have you been having this problem for a long time?
The female's a lurcher (deerhound/greyhound cross) and the male's a boxer/pointer cross.
They have been living with a friend for over a year because our landlord went bankrupt and we were evicted and nowhere would let us keep them.
Finally got them back yesterday but has been a big shock to them, we were trying to ease them in gently by building up the time they came here but had only started so they'd only been here for 30 mins to an hour before. A few days ago was to be their first full day but the male killed one of the guys cat so he just wanted them out.
I know they're missing the other dogs but the female seems to be taking it very badly
They have always been pullers but because they haven't been walked for a while due to various problems at the guys house they pull even more. I did have them before to the point where I could control them both but now that's impossible as they pull in opposite directions :rotfl:
I am looking for a dog trainer but can only do one on one sessions as he was attacked by jack Russells in the park as a pup so now is terrified of smaller dogs. This is going to be expensive as I had taken the female to puppy classes when she was little and asked the prices then.
To be honest with you all I knew he was going to be hard work but eventhough he's been having socialisation sessions with small dogs he still wants to attack strange ones. I know it's fear aggression but the lady he's been going to closes over the winter and won't be open again until march or April. This will put him back a bit but I don't know anyone willing to put their own dog at risk and I wouldn't feel sure I could control him so wouldn't do that anyway.
I now have to see how we go over the next few weeks and decide what's best for us all, he was to be going to the girl who's been training him before we were evicted but her situation had changed so she couldn't take him. The guy who had them lived quite close to her so she was seeing him every other week to work with him but I can't see much improvement, maybe it's just the fact that I'm so tired that I'm feeling this way and maybe after a good sleep I'll feel better.
I'll catch you guys later, taking DS out for lunch while the dogs sleep.SPC #329 £471/£500 banked

I've been 'stalking (for want of a better word ) your sparkly Christmas thread for a couple of weeks and wanted to possibly join earlier.
Only just realised I've been browsing all this time as any unregistered member hence me being a brand new user.
So if it's OK can I maybe stay?
Would love to have people to chat to

We have 2 greyhounds who are not social at all especially small little dogs who run up and bark at them when not on leads.
We make sure we muzzle them at all times when we go for walks and hold them really tight so if a dog is coming we have full control. 95% of the time the other dog owners apologise to us but the odd few are very rude.
With regards to anxiety we have a citronella collar which you can buy in most pet shops I got mine on the internet for £65 I think.
I got the remote control one and the 1st setting is a little noise, 2nd setting is a small spray of citronella and 3rd setting a larger spray. When we rescued our dogs we had 5 months of taking it in turns to sleep on the sofa as they cried from about 2 in the morning and didn't want the kids or neighbours to wake up.
After 3 nights he stopped crying and now just putting it on him tends to be enough, the very odd occasion we have to only hit setting 1 and the noise is enough I cannot remember the last time we had to spray them. we do use it if we have lots of people around for buffet type meal as they would probably steal from people but with collar on they don't.
Hope this makes sense as have a tendency to waffle xxNow on the 5:2 diet.
