    I'd rather find out that the LL is a crackpot before I move in! I have no idea why anyone would agree to live like that though.

    If it's a live-in landlord then most of those are actually sensible rules designed to keep the place tidy and minimise costs and hastle for the landlord (I assume the pork is a religious thing). It's only the way they were given out that I find surprising.

    From the way it is written I would guess it was produced for the benefit of a previous tenant who was breaking these rules (hence the angry tone), but not rewritten before handing out to prospective new tenants.

    The landlord probably thinks they are protecting themselves because people won't move in unless they are happy with the rules. Actually, I think they are likely to get a worse tenant, as people won't move in unless they are desparate.
