I have the tariff unit charges which are better than standard prices.

Can anyone tell me if this tariff has the same annual DD and Dual Fual discounts as the standard tariff?

Thanks in advance.

    Hi Col,

    As far as I am aware due to the fact you are getting such a discounted rate in the first place you do not get DD and Dual Fuel discounts with the online tariffs - they are only applicable to the standard tariffs which are not the best by any stretch. The only extra thing I know you can get on the online tariffs is the bonus Nectar points - you get a quarterly loyalty bonus and also points for the Read Reduce Reward scheme (reading your own meter.)

    Regards

    If you are on the standard tariff and not one of the online ones then I'd strongly suggest you look into switching. What exactly are you paying? If you post it I'll compare it to my prices as I'm on Online 4. Find out the exact specifics of your tariff and then check out the cheapest tariff you can get from one of the comparison websites (uswitch.com or energyhelpline.com) but make sure you compare the specifics of the tariffs with what you're on at the minute to get the most accurate picture of what you could save. Don't just take what it says you can save as fact because sometimes those figures can be misleading.

    I'm on the EDF Dual Fuel tariff for Gas and pay;
    3.93p for the First 5860 kWh then 2.47p

    For electric i'm on the standard tariff and pay;
    14.95p for the First 900 kWh then 10.16p

    Is this reasonable or should i switch?????

    Hi 2001GT,

    I would be pretty confident you could get better prices those those by switching - most standard tariffs can be beaten. My tariff is significantly better than those but unfortunately it is no longer available from EDF. The prices you are eligible for and which company it is best for you to switch to are both dependent on the area you live in and your usage. The best thing to do is go to the comparison websites (uswitch.com or energyhelpline.com) and see what the cheapest tariffs available for your area are and then compare them to the prices you have quoted above.

    Regards

    I am online with dual fuel v1 with EDF and I definitely get discounts. My Gas bills seem to have a £10 discount per quarter. My electric bills also show a direct debit discount. I seem to remember having a choice when I started the account of either having the direct debit discount or having extra nectar points. I also get nectar points for submitting reading.

    Hi michelle,

    My direct debits have both just been reduced to;

    18 pounds per month for electric
    26 pounds per month for gas

    I live in a 4 bed detached house and have gas c/h and gas hob.
    Also the tumble dryer was on a lot over the winter.
    House is very well insulated and we noticed a huge difference when we got cavity wall insullation, heating doesn't come on as much.

    The fact that our dd's have just been reduced is confusing....how much more could i actually save??

    Wow you must be doing extremely well at conserving energy if that's all you need to pay for a 4 bed detached! What's your usage? I'm paying nearly double that for a 3 bed flat and I've got a good bit better tariff that you're on too. I guess the insulation really does make a big difference - unfortunately my flat is a very old one with large rooms and there's no way to insulate the walls so it is drafty and consequently I know it uses a lot more gas.

    Anyway as far as whether or not you can save anymore goes you would really need to check the comparison sites - try energyhelpline.com and uswitch.com. The prices you'll be offered are all dependent on the area you live in so there's no general "cheapest/best company" as it differs all over the country. Put your details in and see what it comes up with - it's always more accurate if you can put in your yearly consumption but don't worry if you don't know it. I always suggest people don't really look at how much it says they can save and do the calculation for themselves by looking at the tariff they are on with their current provider and comparing it with the tariff being offered as the lowest for them by the switching sites. If it works out cheaper then you'll have your answer. Let me know how you get on and good luck but you seem to not be doing too bad.

    Regards

    Michelle

    Hi Colin that's interesting - I'm on Online 4 so perhaps they discontinued this for later versions as I definitely only get the nectar points and don't remember getting any choice in the matter!

    I am also on V1, I too get payment discount for paying by DD and having Dual Fuel, I also had the option of having points or the discount, I chose the discount, as they discount worked out a lot more than the mostly useless NECTAR points, but did give me so many points for joining up. However from day one although I get all the discounts for being online and dual fuel they said I'd get, I've also been getting the 300 NECTAR points each bill, and I don't even have to give my own readings online, only if I disagree with the bill, which isn't often as my meters are regularly read, so I get one bill estimated the next bill actual readings and so on. Maybe it's just due to the Meter Reading company used in this area (have had the same company read the meters all these years, with all our different providers).

    We still get a paper bill through the post as well as an eMail to say our bill is ready for viewing.
    It's PAC not PAC Code, it's MAC not MAC Code, it's PIN not PIN Number, it's ATM not ATM Machine, it's LCD not LCD Display, it's DVD not DVD disc... It's no one not noone, It's a lot not alot, It's got not gotten... Panini is the plural of panino - there is no S!!
