student loan and DMP

Hi all

I'm just trying to weigh up a few options at the moment!

I am on a DMP at the moment which is due to finish next year. I am hoping to try health visitor training in September. The training is funded, so first of all I am wondering whether I would qualify for a student loan in the first place, and secondly, whether this might be a cost effective way to close my DMP.

Any thoughts?

And thanks in advance

xx

Assuming that you do not already have any qualifications that are at the same / higher level than the one you will be studying for, and otherwise meet all of the usual student finance eligibility regulations, then yes you will be eligible for student finance. No credit checks are run before student finance is given.

    Thanks Chick!

I actually already have an MA. Does that mean I'll be automatically excluded then :(.

Are you already a qualified nurse or midwife?

Guys, it's really not helpful to tell someone they're not eligible when they potentially are. There are various exceptions to this, such as NHS courses, which the OP has described.

Can only hope they return with the information that Dunroamin requested.

As the course is NHS funded with living support supplied by the means of bursaries then can the OP still claim a student loan? If so would it not be means tested?

Hi guys -sorry - I thought I had set up email notification on this but apparently not!

Dunroamin - Yes, I am a registered nurse.
