Help me with names for a children's business?

I wondered if I could harness your creativity and get your help with coming up with some names for my new business?

It's a children's entertainment business, offering interactive sessions of music, dance, rhythm, stories and song, plus parachute games when age-appropriate.

I also do baby signing (not officially trained) and would be planning on incorporating some signing, as well as some basic foreign language.

I am planning just to do parties to begin with and I've been doing a few free ones for friends to work on what I do and start to get known and get some testimonials.

I know there are lots of these types of things around but I regularly stand in for another woman who does this type of class once a week and I've got a really good idea of what preschoolers and babies want from this type of session so I'm hopeful of doing OK.

Having been to lots of these types of classes I am confident that I am better than a lot of people out there, in terms of singing quality and content.

The problem is that I can't think of a name!

I want a name that is bouncy- and fun-sounding, rather than dull.

The only thing I can come up with is BippityTots, which is at least unique but I'm not sure if anyone else would like it or understand it?

Any thoughts/ideas please?

No, I know! Although my 3yo absolutely loves it! It was the only one I came up with that she considered acceptable, which is why I'm still considering it.

OK, I'm feeling it! Boppity Tots. Yeah. Just need to check someone isn't already using it.

But any other ideas throw them in! :)

  • If it isn't exclusively for toddlers, I would avoid using the word 'tots' as it could put some parents off. I would think that it would be too young for children of school age. I'll have a think and post later regarding a name.

OP, what area are you? If you're in the North West I could be interested for our children's disability group.

I'm in the South East. What a shame! I couldn't be further away!

Good point about tots. I guess I was thinking children aged 5 and under as that's what I'm used to doing. I've no experience of entertaining older ones but I'm thinking of learning to do face painting and of offering craft parties as well.

I guess I need a name that allows me to expand later.

I'd go for something simple that people will remember, so that they can pass your name on to others and so people will find you easily on the internet.

Maybe something that can be connected with a clear logo too - think of apple!

    - as you mentioned something bouncy, could just be 'bounce'
  • Definitely too far away :(

I know that we used a firmn a couple of years ago with Moonlight in the name. I can't remember the exact details though. They offered music and movement, with coloured lights, children swirling ribbons, and a story about space.

A couple of ideas, none very good though:

    Jiminy
    Cheeky Chops
    Dances and Dreams
Rocking Robins (and you could use a robin as your logo and mascot)

It's natural to concentrate on the younger age group, but probably more profitable to think outside the box. If you can offer a service to children with special needs, for example, you have a wider customer base.

You could also think about what appeals to slightly older children and see if it is possible to offer it - maybe not immediately, but in the future. If you do this, though, you need to make sure that your business name is appropriate. I'm thinking along the lines of craft parties (my sister had one of these when her kids were about eight - different, everyone loved it, and the kids all took home the stuff that they had made :)).

    Bippity bops?
    Man plans and God laughs...
Perhaps travel cannot prevent bigotry. But by demonstrating that all people cry, laugh, eat, worry and die, it introduces the idea that if we try to understand each other, we may even become friends.
