I'm so sorry for your loss and will sign the petition.

One of the neighbours where I used to live told me that they knew of someone in the area where we lived that would put out antifreeze for cats to drink so we kept ours as indoor cats and although we have moved recently I still won't be letting them out for fear of someone else doing the same. I cannot believe that anyone can be so callous and cruel.

I hope you find out who has done this and they get what they truely deserve.

This horrendous crime seems to do the rounds most years, but the areas change.

To the extent that people will spray the cat with antifreeze, knowing they will lick it off.

Which area are you in OP? and have you alerted the local press?

In my area it has been put in puddles of which there are plenty at the moment so beware if your pet drinks from them.

So sorry to hear this. I have signed the petition. This is absolutely disgusting. I dont know how people can be so cruel. Lets hope something equally as nasty happens to them one day!!
  • I'm in bridgwater, somerset. It seems to happen alot in bridgwater but has never been on my estate. I found out that last week a couple of persions died a couple of weeks ago a few miles from me, they found traces of antifreeze in them :-( I had to bury Petal as quick as I could as I didn't want my 3year to see her, so I have no proof of what happened. From what I gather there may not of been any traces left anyway as she didn't come in for tea, shes usually in around 8 and I didn't find her until 830 the next morning. Thank you to everyone who has signed, its about time something was done, please share the petition with as many people as possible. If you use antifreeze check it has bittering agent in it, it only takes a little leak, I noticed Halfords already put it in all thier products, well done to them

Hi Beck, so sorry for your loss. Are you in W Bridgwater? The canal bank has been baited with something toxic - my scavanging Maine Coon was ill over Christmas, as was my neighbour's collie. Someone in Camden Road had a Lab ill in the vets for 3 days. Those are just the cases I personally know of - there are alledgedly lots more. There are also reports (all word of mouth, I can't find anything official) of dogs being ill after playing in flood water at Victoria Park.

I know the use of anti-freeze to poison cats has been going on for years in certain areas of town especially in Polden Meadows, Bath Road etc.
"Cheap", "Fast", "Right" -- pick two.
  • I'm just off wills road, not near the canal but there is a stream on the fields. Petal was one of those cats who never wondered far, you could call her anytime of day and she's hear you and all my cats come in at night. She didn't like strangers and was quite scatty, not sure why anyone would want to harm her. In the house she was the most annoying cat, always meowing to go out when you just let her in or the other way around, waking the kids up by rubbing in thier faces just to get some love. We're really missing been annoyed :(

The 2 persion cats that had traces of antifreeze was in sydenham, both from the same family a couple of days apart. Poor family.
