you have to be a special kind of crazy to buy a no touch soap dispenser.

What do you do immediately after touching the soap or dispenser?

    Wash your hands!

I bought one for my mum who had limited use of her hands. She couldn't handle a bar of soap and didn't have the strength to use a manual pump so this was a godsend.

I just popped the top off mine with a screw driver or knife and rerfilled I also filled one with baby shampoo so much easier when bathing a baby than messing about with tops
Thats a very good idea! Very handy when trying to bathe a wriggly baby! :)

HB are great for coldsore cream. I got some for 89p - same active ingredient and strength as zovirax. They have the same brands as boots and are nearly £4 cheaper!

Yes but the next person to touch the soap dispenser is also going to wash their hands immediately afterwards, thus getting rid of any chicken germs.

Are they? There is always the chance that someone will pick it up by it's top to move it.
That aside these things are marvellous for getting kids to wash their hands because they are more interested in them than normal dispensers.

Personal choice at the end of the day. I love mine, I find it easier than a standard dispenser, that doesn't make me crazy as implied here.

Excuse my total ignorance, how does a domestic "no touch" dispenser work? What is it that releases the special hand washing fluid?
[I suppose it is relatively cheap when compared with the price of branded computer printer inks]

They have a sensor which detects something underneath the pump (I've thrown the dish sponge under it before and it has dispensed :o). It's battery operated and TBH for the fiver it was it is brilliant. I have one in the bathroom as well.

I do buy the branded refills but as they are only a quid in HB and BM I don't think it's a big expense.

Sounds fun, but so is a battery operated pepper grinder.

I think I will stick with any cheap old gunk in a manual pump or horror of horrors a bar of soap.

TBH the only reason its in the bathroom is it was cheap, I'm just as happy with a bar of soap there.
At the end of the day germs spread through a lack of hand washing, and if a funny little device that costs me barely a fiver encourages people to wash then I'm more than happy with that.
  • We have the no touch dispenser in the bathroom and kitchen, we actually only bought the 2nd one today from Family Bargains. (£4.99) OH is terrible for gadgets lol, I wouldnt personally have bought them but they do make hand washing a bit easier especially as a PP said after touching raw meat. And DS does love it! We all use different time saving things and things to make life easier so each to their own.
