Hi
I have just purchased a SATA controller card. I was under the impression I would need a SATA data cable and a SATA power cable (plus adaptor). However on reading the instructions i have come up againts this:
'6. Connect the HDD LED connector from the computer case to the HDD Busy LED connector (JP4) on the Serial ATA host controller card.'
Whilst I can locate connector (JP4) on the controller card, i have no idea where this is meant to connect to on my computer.
Help would greatly be appriciated.

Its only relevant if you want the light to flash on the front of your case when you access your HDD. Its not mandatory. If your adding extra HDD's to an existing system I would guess that your case led connector is already connected to the Motherboard.0

You will also need sata data cable and the power cable, most newer power supplies have sata power connectors on them anyway so check before you go get them.
The drive activity indacator LED will be connected to your motherboard if you have a drive already installed, it is the orange and white pair of wires. orange being the positive side of the LED. you only need to connect that if you want to know when the sata drives are being accessed. I wouldnt bother normally but if your operating system will be installed oon the sata thn I would.
I use a scsi hard drive and have the drive activity LED connectedto the scsi controler the IDE drive in the system also causes the LED to flash so somehow themotherboard activity controler links in with the scsi activity. that may work with your controler I don't know.0
