When do you need to register as a business

I was wondering when a hobby needs to be registered as a business and you need to start upgrading you home insurance to say that you run your business from home.

If you start selling, for example cupcakes, was your hobby now you looking as selling, when does it require registeration as a business.

What makes people who sell at local cake sales at village fairs and markets not have to register as a business.

You need to register as self employed with HMRC within 3 months of becoming self employed.

Only you can decise when a paying hobby becomes a business.
