Receiving widowed parents allowance but carers and income support stopped?

Hi all,

My mum has just started receiving widowed parents allowance after my fathe rpassed away. We sent in the application ages ago butthey took 2 months processing it and just before she started to receve it she got a letter saying that her carers allowance and income support was to be stopped as she can't have WPA alongside these other benefits. I don't have the exact figures of what she gets but she is worried she may be worse off now. Is this normal procedure?

This link confirms that you can't get carers allowance if receiving more than £58.45 in WPA or certain other benefits, but says that "Instead, Jobcentre plus will work out if these benefits can be increased or if you’re entitled to other benefits"
