how to tell what's a supporting wall?

    Haha... this is a bit of a tricky one.

    The simplest solution initially is to "tap" the wall. If it's hollow then it's just a stud partition. To be sure though get it surveyed by a structual engineer...

    Failing that knock it down and pray to high heaven it holds? :confused:

  • get it checked,

    as a rule of tumb, it the floor boards run the same direction as the wall below it will be quite likely to be supporting. ie the joists are sitting on the wall.
