The number of claimants getting their incorrect ATOS decision overturned on appeal is staggering. Something is fundamently wrong. Easy solution, for every wrong ATOS decision overturned by appeal FINE ATOS say £50,000 that will soon sort them out and go someway to ballancing the government books. Hit ATOS where it hurts.

Excellent idea unfortunately as the government needs Atos to carry out its dirty work if there were any punitive clauses in Atos's contract such as financial penalties for sub-standard work (as we see so often from Atos) then Atos wouldn't be too inclined to carry out that dirty work and not many organisations like Atos would, they are totally motivated by greed. So far better to let the taxpayer pick up the bill for the many sub-standard WCAs that Atos carry out. Then the government wins in getting Atos to do its dirty work and Atos wins as it's laughing all the way to the bank on the misery it has caused the disabled.

The ATOS rep said on the phone to me the other day "we are phoning to make sure you get the right amount of benefit" i said "you don't have a say in how much,if any, benefit i may or may not get, that is up to the the DWP". the rep said "oh yes we do,we have a lot of influence on what you get or don't get" on informing them that the phone call was being recorded they soon changed their info.Like i said earlier, they are sneaky and underhanded.

The content of the call you have described leads us to think this may not have been from Atos Healthcare. However, if it was, it provided incorrect information and is contrary to our standards.

  • I have some very serious health issues which was the result of a quadrupole bypass leaving me with many difficulties including not being able to walk to far without getting out of breath and using my GTN, and my lungs filling up with liquid every day, I also can not leave the house until my medication has done its job which is about 2.30/3.00 pm
each and everyday. I stated all this in my ESA50 and I've also sent in a medical report from my doctor but I was amazed that the Atos HCP (Nurse who I can not find on the GMC site) who looked at my case said "The level of disability is unclear" When all my paperwork sent in clearly states my limitations and was backed up by a report from my GP. Not only have they got this wrong, Atos for 12 months now; can't even get an appointment time correct knowing I can not leave home at say 10 am they send me an appointment for 10 am  to date I have had 11 appointments which have all had to be cancelled. So my question the Atos rep is simple: If you have read what I have written here? how can anyone make such a statement as this "The level of disability is unclear" and you can make this a general answer as I'm sure you will.

Is this a PR excercise ? or are you going answer all the questions in order ??????

How soon should the ATOS report be available to the DWP. I've called after having an assessment last week, to be told they haven't received the report yet, but the ATOS rep (doc) said it would be available instantly as it's sent electronically?

I have one other question. Is it common practice for your reps to introduce themselves as doctor <insert name here> when they are nurses? Because that happened the last time we were there. I'm waiting for this report to see if it was a doctor or a nurse that done it this time.

Reports are normally available the next day for the DWP following the Work Capability Assessment. A random number are chosen for quality audit and this may delay their release for a few days. The Benefit Centre handling your claim will be able to confirm when the report is received

Our health care professionals, whether doctors, nurses or physiotherapists, will introduce themselves to you. The title doctor should only be used if the health care professional was a doctor.

Then that confirms my fears that lies are being told. " I am Doctor XXXXXX", when the report came through it stated it was done by a registered nurse.

We were told that the 2nd report would be sent right away, however 8 days later it's still not available. So if it's held back for audit, how long will it take for the dwp receive it....

Numerous reports exist of HCPs calling themselves doctors when they turn out not to be. I repeat my question from over a year ago and more recently. How does one go about finding out who the HCP will be who is to conduct their face to face medical?

I'll remind you what happened to me in a little more detail so as to give you some explanation as to why I ask this question. I suffer from paranoia and also have to obsessively plan ahead. So I took the measure of making a FOI request to the DWP regarding who the HCP would be for my medical. The DWP responded with details - a male doctor x. However to my surprise my medical was actually conducted by a female nurse - this caused me great difficulty and actually at one point led to me considering attacking the nurse in the assessment room. As you may well imagine I do not like facing situations where I'm at risk of harming someone. Therefore it would be greatly helpful if there was some way of finding out who the HCP would be in advance of the medical - asking for a FOI seems insufficient as ATOS (from observation) seem to operate some conveyor belt type system on the day making allocation of HCP difficult to predict. Can you clarify how these things work and how I as a customer who may have another face to face medical looming in the next month or so how I go about getting this information.

And no.. I do not wat a PR reply... although even that would be an advance on previous. I need accurate information so that I can take steps to help both ATOS and myself. I presume you would not think that unreasonable and therefore my question entirely valid and clearly well within the scope laid out at the start of the thread. If you don't know the answer - you can say I don't know the answer. At least then I can stop asking the question and move on to another that hasn't been answered. Not a lot to ask is it?

    A customer.
