Ladders or scaffold

I'm thinking of painting the front of my house - a typical 1920s two-storey terrace with a gable at the front - but don't know what to do about getting up there! Ladder or scaffold? Buy or hire? Anyone done this and got advice on what/how/where/how much?

    Hire a scaffold tower

Ladders would be a pain and quite risky

If you have enough room around your property, then a scaffold tower is much better and far safer as long as it is erected properly and has outriggers.

I purchased an alloy one from ebay a few years ago and it has been extremely useful, but it is a pain to store it and has taken over my garage!

I would also go for a tower - especially in this weather - i was up there last weekend, but the path was slippery, and the ladder went from underneath me and i came tumbling down. Fortunately the car wasn't in the way. I did break a couple of the porch tiles though.
