we have a can o worms and its fab. Its taking a lot longer than we anticipated in getting any compost out of the thing, but I think after about 1 year of use, our bottom tray is getting somewhere ! We have had lots of liquid compost however, and I regularly pour that over the plants.
I was about to do a search on here to day for info on flys !! I have done everything it says i should to get rid of them (correct food, correct conditions i think) and every time i open the lid i get stacks in my face.

We've had one for about three years (Can-O-Worms0 and it works very well. In fact, I've just ordered an extra tray because once it gets going and the worm population builds up, it gets faster.
For the flies, cover the compost/food with a layer of soil and stop adding food for a week. Turn it all over with a fork first, roughly flatten the surface and then cover. If it's full, take a couple of scoops out and put in the next tray first.0 -
I have a wormcity wormery (in fact I have 2 !! )
and they are excellent value for money.
i havn't had any problems with mine at all
i thought £110 on a canoworms was a bit steep, especially as its imported from australia so not very enviromentally friendly0 -
Am looking at getting a wormery or a composter. I don't have much room, so have been looking at the Waste Juggler Wormer. This would fit in the space I want to put it in. Anyone got one or something similar? The Bin Company sell them http://www.thebincompany.com/acatalog/Wormeries_3.html
Thanks for any advice.0 -
I have had my wormery for about 8 years now - its great. I would really recommend it to someone with a small garden who is not likely to have much composting material but wants to compost kitchen leftovers. You can add pretty much anything to them although I would say not to add meat based products to the wormery.

Go here;

put in your post code then go to the "additional bins" section and see if you can get it cheaper. We saved a lot of cash on a can o worms from here.0 -
MOVING THREADS FOR BETTER RESPONSES
Hi, Martin’s asked me to post this in these circumstances: I’ve asked Board Guides to move threads if they’ll receive a better response elsewhere (please see this rule) so this post has been moved to another thread, where it should get more replies. If you have any questions about this policy please email abuse@moneysavingexpert.com
I''ll merge the two together to keep all the replies in one place/0 -
We have had a wormery for 7 months now. We love feeding the worms and we can see the compost being made, now it is up an d running it looks after itself, we just add new waste to it about 1 a week and let the worms do their business.Win Dec 2009 - In the Night Garden DVD : Nov 2010 - Paultons Park Tickets :0

We have a wormcity and a canoworms (£45 at tescos). I've only set up the wormcity and we love it!! I have kids - worms are the best pet ever, they love looking after them. In fact you should have heard our squeals of delight when we spotted an icle tiny baby worm. We were overjoyed!July Win: Nokia 58000
