Messed up transfer via Simply switch

You cannot do it legally - which is more to the point. Despite your relationship you have no inherent 'right' to switch a parent's contractural obligations without authority.
The fact you can, due to sloppy proceedures - is a different matter.0 -
What may have happened to this Switch is confusion over who has the authority to do it.
Power of Attorney is not required for some one other than the account holder to manage the account - All that is needed is a letter to the supplier from snowcat53's mother, giving snowcat the authority to manage the account on her behalf0 -

Remind me, who was it who came here looking for advice because what they did all turned pear shaped?
It may not be the advice you wanted to hear, but that doesn't mean I don't know what I'm talking about.
I was looking for helpful views and advice, but I did not ask for advice on whether I was entitled to perform this switch on my mother's behalf), certainly not from someone who clearly has no more legal training than I do. You are completely wrong on this point, not matter how often or how trenchantly you assert your view. You seem to want an argument but i am not going to oblige you further. Welcome to my very select ignore list.0 -
I think we've all got tied up in the wrong issue here, I doubt if the reason the transfer has not gone thru is because snowcat filled the electronic form out on behalf of her mother. Its more likely an error in filling supplypoint/meter numbers etc. Did you get and Email confirming the transfer was going ahead?0

Yes indeed David P, and all details were correct. But there was no subsequent communication from either supplier. Simply switrch are now resubmitting the order.. It will be sorted , albeit later than it should have been, and we will probably never know what went wrong (but it is certainly nothing to do with my filling in the e-form!)0

Wywth may be abrasive and quite pedantic for pursuing this so hard, but it doesn't make him/her wrong. When one enters into an energy contract, they are obtaining credit. To do so in someone else's name is unlawful, even though it is easy to perform on the internet.0 -
In my opinion, just because its unlawful doesn't make it morally wrong, providing you are genuinly helping a relative with something they are stuggling with in order to get a better deal. Whats wrong with acting as an intermediary providing you have been asked to do it. The worse intermediarys are the professionals such as financial advisors who act on a persons behalf but often rip them off and thats Legal....0
