Was the moving in reading correct ? I have had a company attempt to charge me for a previous residents electricity before. Meter reading was incorrect for when we moved in.
One day I might be more organised...........
GC: £200
Slinkies target 2018 - another 70lb off (half way to what the NHS says) so far 25lb
• "I also have a system like the one described, mine is a GEC Nightstor 100. The fact your radiators are mostly turned off will not have an effect."

I'm sorry but this is simply not true. If the radiators are turned off then heat will not be transferred from the heat store so it will not need to be heated up as much.

Thats not to say that the heat store will not lose heat itself but turning off the radiators will definatley reduce the bill.
Hi I also have a G&C nightstor boiler problem is that my Elec bills are going silly. I notice the boiler is not getting hot and comming on daytime on the peak (expensive) times. Now as G&C are discontinued I cannot find a plumber or Sparky who knows anything about it. until I can find someone who can service and fix I'm stuck with being cold or running up massive bills.

Can anyone help Please??

I have a GEC Nightstor 100, it's about 25 years old and as good now as the day it was installed. There is very little to go wrong and very little maintenance required. If you contact a regular plumber you will be told you need a gas combi @ £3,000+ so my advice is to contact Tony at http://www.hes.co.uk/help.php?section=contactus&mode=update
or Steve via stevecowley@ndes.co.uk Both of them are fair and honest and will put things right. Personally I have found the system easy to deal with, generally the only thing that has gone wrong is the pump, which in my case, died slowly causing overheating and drawing air into the system which eventually sludged the pipes. New pump (Wilo 50 & use the external capacitor, the top one by the fan - a capacitor onboard the pump will overheat) and good flush out and all back to normal. Try either of the two guys above, they are more reliable than the regular plumber I called who charged me £70 to fit a blank cap and suggested I needed £2,900 of new kit, not to mention paying to install gas! Should have really spotted that he trotted up on horseback, except he tied him up round the corner.

When N. Elect changed over from good old analogue to rubbish new digital meter, they re-wired it incorrectly, actually crossing over the daytime and nightime economy modes so that we were being charged the higher rates at night!

Not sure if this is your prob but is worth checking (took me months of complaining, they refused to even check it out at first, even had to threaten to get Offwotsit & my MP involved). Eventually sorted so that instead of owing them £2,000 odd, they owed us coupla hundred. Even after that, they then got the readings crossed over again for the next quarter!!
