Electric heaters have to be far more costly to run than gas central heating.
£270 for electricity seems a huge amount I don't pay that for gas and electric over a three month winter period.Everything has its beauty but not everyone sees it.0 -
yeah, and thats just round about 6 weeks, in 8 weeks i used £352, and one week i used £125.... its ridiculous and cant afford to run it now,0

As above electric heating will cost 3-4 times more than the equivalent gas system to run.
You also have the problem that with panel heaters you don't have the option of Economy 7 as you would if they were staorage heaters.
The only suggestion would be to turrn the thermostats downso you only heat your rooms to asay19 c.
Are you on the cheapest electricity tarrif. You also need to work out your annual consumption in KWh.That gum you like is coming back in style.0 -
I agree with the other posters. Your situation is similar to most people who use electric heaters. Are you in a position to change your heating system?0

I own a bathroom shop...and was able to buy something very similar to the Farho type so called 'high efficiency' panel radiators for my attic room. I believed the blurb that it was super efficient and would cost less to run than your standard convector heaters. Fixed it to the wall, ...looked great..and switched it on. I was able to see the exact running cost by way of the readily available usage meters. I discovered that it costs exactly the same as a cheap £20 convector....moreover, whereas it took 20 minutes to warm up and produce heat, the convector was instant and could warm up the room far quicker...and as my daughter pointed out, when you want to get dressed in the morning, you want instant heat. The other disadavantage was that whereas one could huddle around the convector to get instantly warm from the heat stream, the panel radiator did not provide the same level of warmth....warming gently over hours. I returned the panel and got my money back! Penny for penny, both 2 kw heaters cost exactly the same so I don't see how the 'super efficient' panels manage to save you money as they claim.0

If you are paying more than £1,500 a year, then it's time to worry. Below that, it's just fact of life now.0

Not sure why people don't believe you - anyone with electric heating on day rates will pay about 2.5 to 4 times as much as people on economy seven or gas.
Not sure if you fell for the lies in the advertising of these expensive heaters which are expensive to run, but if you have recently bought them, then I'd consider asking for a refund and suing them if they don't agree. The basis would be unfit for purpose, as any electric heater using full priced electricity is unfit for a main heating system.0
