Selling An Old Laptop With Cracked Screen?

Options
Hi!
Hope this is the right thread to be putting this on.
I have a laptop to sell its almost 2 years old but is quite fast and a good laptop but I have cracked the screen.
I was just wondering where a good place to sell it would be?
I did a google search and it come up with quite a few different places but I didn't know which would be best, so I thought I would ask on here!
Thanks
Claire :D

Ebay? Be honest about it's condition and almost definitely someone will be interested, as swapping out the screen is fairly simple for someone with the knowledge.

Places like Magpie may take it but you won't get a good price.

Local independent PC/mobile phone stores would take it as they would swap the screen and sell it on for a profit.

Just be sure to do a full and proper wipe first.

If it's a good laptop then someone might run it through an external monitor without even swapping out the screen.

Is it not covered by any household contents insurance you could claim on.

If it's only 2 years old it may be worth sourcing/fitting a replacement screen, then either keeping it or selling it fully working.

If you provide the make and full model number I can find out how much a new screen is likely to cost.
How do I add a signature?

I recently sold my 3 year old laptop with fritzed hard drive to http://www.sellusyourlaptop.co.uk/ and they gave me £79. Good service, they pay extra if you have original box and recovery disks and also they pay an extra £5 if you don't require them to send you a box to use (I put it in the laptop's original box and covered in brown paper). They'll also pay for UPS to collect from you.

All in all I was quite pleased, maybe could have got more on ebay but I didn't mind sacrificing a bit for less hassle, especially considering it was all a bonus to begin with. You can get a quote on the website and see if you think it's worth it.

Hi, I tried doing that but they wanted £150 excess so I decided not to :)

    An Advent. Ahh...
Just sell it for repair or spares on eBay. Plenty of demand I would imagine.
IIRC the hinges on those are very weak and crack within months of normal use.
No free lunch, and no free laptop ;)
