Help, lost my job

Hello i'm looking for advice please. I recently lost my job my final date was the 7th of jan, i have not been to job centre yet but will be going soon......

The thing is i have 2 children 12 & 15, i live in my own home and payment is due at the end of the month, i am a single mum with no savings and i havent got a clue what i am entitled to!!!!

Can anybody help please xx

    You can try and claim jobseekers allowance if you are looking for a job. That may pay you £71.00 a week for yourself. You can claim child tax credits based on your new level of income and you will still have your child benefit. You can also try claiming on your mortgage payment protection insurance to make the mortgage payment. If you don't have insurance you will have to borrow the money from somewhere or miss the payment. You will not be out on the street for a long time so missing a mortgage payment is not a problem if you get a job soon.
