Job Centre Form Issues

I was wondering if someone could help me resolve an issue I'm having going back and to between HMRC and the Job Centre.
I received a letter from HMRC today stating I had underpaid tax for tax year 2011-12, according to their figures I received £2025 in Jobseekers Allowance during this time, I rang HMRC to dispute this as I signed off on the 31st March 2011. The adviser told me that I would need to prove this by requesting a JA509529 from the Job Centre I made the claim through.
Fair enough, so I called the local Job Centre to be told this form doesn't exist and they can't provide any information on a tax year I didn't make a claim in. So what do I do now? I spoken to HMRC again and they've said without evidence stamped by the Job Centre they will claim the money back in the next tax year by adjusting my tax code accordingly.
I've been back through my bank statements, just to double check and I definitely didn't receive any JSA since the 4th April 2011 which was the final payment of £18.70.
I don't fancy paying HMRC £405 tax on money I haven't claimed!

Get a full copy of your JSA file.

Submit this to HMRC.
Add a recording of the refusal to supply a form, and your bank account statements.0 -

Hi I noticed your post on my thread, I had the exact same problem. I went to my local job centre today, they happen to have a HMRC advisor based there and she was able to correct all my income details on file straight away rather than me having to post forms to them. Turns out my£477 underpayment was actually an 80p underpayment lol. I notice you live in north east Scotland, so do I, my local job centre office is Buckie, if you can go there the lady is in Thursdays and Fridays 10am until 3pm, she is extremely helpful. Good luck<insert super cool inspirational sig here>0

That's great news, thanks for letting me know
Mine is Elgin so I'll try there tomorrow, if they are as unhelpful in person as they were on the phone I'll be off to Buckie next week!"Organic!! I grew up on Angel Delight..." - Dylan Moran0
