Ultimately, smoking or not, ballet classes or not, Jeremy Kyle or not, I don't want anybody subsidised, encouraged, or state supported in any way to have children, and certainly not to have more than two. The country, and world, are overcrowded and resources are struggling to keep up with exponential population growth. Encouraging breeding is the maddest political policy of the modern era.

I've always thought that benefits should be issued in vouchers, so they can be used in numerous places, but only for the items they are supposed to be intended for, so food and utilities etc...

Its a good idea but if we did that the chances are it would be tied to big supermarkets, rather than being able to use discount shops, or market traders.

those that dont take advantage and make their money stretch would be worse off. the chavs that want to smoke it away would sell them.

It wouldnt be perfect by any means, people find a way around most things

But, it would make things slightly more difficult for those that did want to abuse the system, or act as a deterrant for people that fancied an easy ride. It might mean those using them find life easier, vouchers would be easier to manage than cash. Vouchers cant be wasted on junk or taken from your bank account 'without you knowing'

Could we get them both on Jeremy Kyle ?

Maybe, between them, they'd have a balanced kid.

All good points, but if it was the same system for everyone it still ends up punishing those that are doing the best for themselves.

Whilst the spongers get more of the press, they are not the biggest proportion of claimants. Id rather have a system that a few abuse than the many are punished by.

It would have to be some sort of special debit card system with safeguards against misuse. Unfortunately only the big retail players could be relied upon to have the werewithal and integrity to operate such a system satisfactorily. Don't see why Lidl, Aldi, Primark etc should not be in the frame though.

of smoking (a packet a day) is more than the CB - so why should these people get the Govt to fund their anti social habit?

why can they not give up smoking and spend this money on their children????????????????

this would save the Govt more money than their current balls up of a scheme and is far fairer.

to be honest, i would rather a middle class family saved the CB for their child's university fees, or spent it on ballet lessons for annabella, than some fat chav smoking it whilst sitting on her couch in her pyjamas watching jeremy kyle and wonga ads.

Why restrict this to the fat chav's? What about those £40K+ income households spending our taxes on Starbucks, Waitrose and ski holidays? Perhaps they should distribute CB in Lidl/Aldi vouchers.

you're missing the point. the point is, these chavs are deemed to be poor and "worthy" of help. meanwhile, the only reason the fat chav has no money to pay for her sprogs lunch is because she has selfishly spent it on fags for herself. therefore, she does not need CB, she is just wasting it on herself.

better to give ALL the CB money to schools and order them to provide breakfast and lunches with it. that will help all kids.
