Is it fair that CB is paid to families where one or more adult smokes? The cost

of smoking (a packet a day) is more than the CB - so why should these people get the Govt to fund their anti social habit?
why can they not give up smoking and spend this money on their children????????????????
this would save the Govt more money than their current balls up of a scheme and is far fairer.
to be honest, i would rather a middle class family saved the CB for their child's university fees, or spent it on ballet lessons for annabella, than some fat chav smoking it whilst sitting on her couch in her pyjamas watching jeremy kyle and wonga ads.

If you got a part time job using the time you spent moaning on here about the supposed iniquity of you losing a tiny amount of money then I reckon you'd be up on the deal.0

Priceless !! Please keep posting if only for the entertainment value.No-one would remember the Good Samaritan if he'd only had good intentions. He had money as well.
The problem with socialism is that eventually you run out of other people's money.

I've always thought that benefits should be issued in vouchers, so they can be used in numerous places, but only for the items they are supposed to be intended for, so food and utilities etc...

that's quite a, uh, paternalistic attitude for someone who frequently claims to have a strong libertarian streak.
personally, well, i know well enough that parents such as the ones you describe exist in large numbers... at the roughish primary school i went to around half the kids were drawn from a big council estate &, yes, there was a a fair number of people like this.
to be honest i do feel, well, a streak of contempt for them, a streak of despair at the way they bring their kids up. but the 'solutions' that you seem to be suggesting, well, to the extent that you put any forward they're not even worthy of comment.FACT.0
