hadn't spotted this thread before (OK - I'm dim. :D) but Googler is correct. They leak if the job isn't done properly.

No theres's more to it that that. You need to ensure your infrastructure can support your chosen one. What have you got at the moment:

What boiler - make and model?
Is your DHW system open vented in which case what is capacity of your cylinder and your cold tank?
Is your system unvented (eg Megaflo)? What is the capacity of the cylinder?

Those qs will do to start.

    Cheers

    Thanks for the replies

the system is a vented system with hot water cylinder

the boiler is a Potterton suprema 80 HE
the cylinder is about 90cm high and about 50cm diameter
    the water tank about 60 x 60 x 60 cm

the water supply to the old shower had a pump which worked very well

anyone else got any experiences of using shower cabins/pods?
  • I had a basic Kinedo self contained shower enclosure fitted ina previous bathroom. Not a fancy steam/body jet one or anything like that but just a freestanding enclosure

Felt pretty flimsy to be honest and height wasn't great so shower felt like it had to be mounted a bit low and looked much worse thana properly integerated screen enclosure and tray

As other have said get a properly fitted enclosure with properly tanked walls and it will look better and shouldn't leak

Reducing steam/condensation can be done with suitable extractor fan and wiping down enclosure everytime
